The program EPHEMERIS is a standalone RUNTIME package, written in
HiSoft Basic. (You don't need HiSoft Basic to use it.)
You may RUN it:
from CLI by > run ephemer,
or
call it up from Workbench by double-cliking its icon.
WHAT IS EPHEMERIS?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
EPHEMERIS has been written "for those who, either for pactical purposes
or simply because they enjoy making predictions, wish to calculate the
positions and visual aspects of the major heavenly bodies". (So said Peter
Duffet-Smith in his book "Practical Astronomy", Cambrodge University Press).
Another sources are:
- "Calcul Astronomique pour Amateur" by Serge Bouiges. Masson Edit.
- "Ephemerides" by the Bureau des Longitudes.
The program calculates the positions ofthe Sun, the Moon and the planets
for any date and any place and give:
- the Julian day number,
- the day of the week,
- the position in Equatorial coordinates,
in Horizontal coordinates,
in Ecliptic coordinates,
- the orbits of the Sun and Planets with semi-major axis, eccentricity,
eccentric and true anomaly, distance, angular size...,
- rising and setting,
- for the Sun, the energy estimated above the atmosphere,
- for the Moon and the Planets their position in a zodiacal sky at the
date and at three anterior periods for a decrement choosen.
The rest of EPHEMERIS is prety much explanatory, so explore and have fun!
... and big pardon for my bad scholastic English...
